A spotted knapweed wrecking crew converged on known infestations along turnagain arm. The day turned out to be quite nice....but not for the few remaining spotted knapweed stems. The group was represented by the USFS, USF&WS, DNR Division of Agriculture, AKRR and UAF-CES. Together we pulled all known knapweed stems, which were down significantly this year, and left no stems behind. At least that was the thought, but some of the tiny stems were difficult to notice among the other vegetation and landscape. A follow up inventory is planned for later in the summer to monitor for any plants we may have missed. However, as of now, it is very encouraging to think that we have almost completely eradicated this plant from this particular location.
